I Bleed Green

I’ve always been a fan of collegiate sports, the UAAP, to be more specific.

I started with basketball, but ever since volleyball caught on and had as much exposure, I became immediately hooked.

Back in college, my blockmates and I would always watch the basketball games live. But last Sunday, July 16, was the first time I’ve watched volleyball live. And what a better match to watch than The Battle of the Rivals.

And there is no bigger rivalry in the UAAP than the Ateneo-La Salle rivalry. This is what Battle of the Rivals capitalized on. Each institution formed a team of 10 composed of alumnis (and current players for ADMU). Ateneo came out on top, but I was happy to be there nontheless.

I grew up watching these players so I was giddy the entire time I was watching. It feels great to see them play the game that they love most for the schools that trusted them all these years. It was truly nice seeing Gumabao, Cruz, Mercado, Reyes, Fajardo, Galang, Maraño, Demecillo, Gohing, and Saet play as a team again. 💚
